My Kiwi has got a yellow, sharp and curvy beak. Her feathers are hard, prickly and sharp. They are black, brown and red. She has little black marble eyes. Her feet are like hard crooked sticks.

Im going to have my spotty blue pyjama or my purple hearts pyjamas.They are my best pyjamas in the house.We are going to bring coins to make a coin trail so we can buy a house for the people in Christchurch so they can live there safely in case they will have an earthquake there again.

Room 1's shared letter to Christchurch

Dear Christchurch,
We are very sorry that you had an earthquake and lots of buildings got knocked over. We hope you have lots of fresh water to drink and you aren’t drinking yucky water from the tap. We’re glad no-one died in the earthquake. We hope you have lots of food. At our school we are having a pyjama day and coin trail to help raise money for you. Some families in our class have been setting up our survival kit in case we have an earthquake too. We feel really sad about the schools that have been damaged because the kids aren’t at school learning like us. We have been learning about the Christchurch earthquake and writing stories to try and understand what happened. We are thinking of you and hope we can raise lots of money for you. Look after each other.

Jessica has a purple t-shirt with a chain. The chain is the colour of silver. Her eyes are hazel. Her chain on her t-shirt is like the sun. Her hair is so so shiny. Just like some money and her eyes are brown like the monkey bars. – Caitlin

Connor has blonde hair like a horse. He has beautiful green eyes and he has a colourful top like a rainbow. He has a jacket like a grey pony. Connor has on black pants and black socks like a tail. – Hannah

I am going to play with my Dad and my Mum and I am at school and I am going to my house and I like it.
Kaitlin can write a sentence with spaces in the right place. Fantastic.

Nikau.
My horse went home to play. She travelled a long way in the horse float.
Nikau is learning to write words independently by saying the word slowly and writing the sounds he hears.Excellent work Nikau.

I went to the Warehouse and Mum got me a Pokemon ball.

I went into Room one. I played with the money.

I know Mr Armstrong and I know Mrs Field. They are my teachers. Mr Armstrong is not always my teacher.
Lily is learning to say the words slowly and write the sounds she hears. She wrote 'not' all by herself.

William.
I made a bat mask and I was a bat. I felt like I was flying. If I could fly I would fly all the way across the dinosaur world to the volcano. I would be a man-sized bat. I would hang upside down to sleep.
William is learning to use interesting words to make his story exciting. Do you like his ideas?

On Wednesday we all took our teddy bears to school. We all took our blankets to sit on it on the grass and we ate our lunch together. Then we ran to play. It was fun. I took my new pink teddybear.

We made scones. We put in the self-raising flour and we put in the lemonade and then we put in the cream. We pinched some salt and we put it in the bowl . We mixed it together. We made scone shapes.
When they were baked we spread the butter and the jam.
We ate them.

The other day I played with my brother and we played rugby with the ball. We scored a try each.

I have a smoke alarm and it goes beep beep beep when it smells like smoke. We get out of the house.

My fire alarm goes on when there is fire. We go outside as fast as we can. We go to the gate by the cars. I nearly got left inside. I was happy that I didn't get left inside. I was happy.
